What we collect
CostWatch.ca does not ask for, collect or store personal information such as your name or email address. The prices, wages and other figures on the site come from Statistics Canada and contain no information about individual visitors.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful, so we can improve the site. When you visit, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as:
- the pages you view and how long you stay;
- the website that referred you;
- your browser, device type and screen size;
- your approximate location (city or region), derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
We see this information only in aggregated reports. We do not use it to identify you, we do not combine it with other data, and we do not use it for advertising. The information is processed by Google, which may store it outside Canada, including in the United States. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your choices
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works fully without them.
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Use a browser or extension that blocks trackers.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server keeps short-lived technical logs (including IP addresses) to keep the site secure and working. They are not used for analytics and are deleted on a rolling basis.

If we change how we collect or use information, we will update this page and the date above.
